BPC Welcome Packet
Behavioral Testing
The BPC has several tests to characterize the behavior of mice and rats. We can assess cognitive, sensory, affective, and motor behavior.
Surgery
The BPC has a rodent stereotaxic with a mouse and rat head holder. Gas anesthesia or injectable anesthesia is used according to the PI’s approved animal protocol. Training in stereotaxic surgery is available.
Research Planning and Design
Drs. Weiss and Disterhoft are experienced behavioral scientists with NIH-funded research programs. They are available to help design behavioral studies that will meet your research objectives.
Approved Animal Procedures
Approval of the Northwestern University Animal Care and Use Committee is required for all procedures carried out on animal subjects. The BPC has provided several protocols that can be easily added into a PI’s existing Animal Study Protocol. The approved animal procedures and instructions for how to insert them into an existing protocol can be found here.
